Gergely Varga serves as a Mediation and Conflict Resolution Officer at the Office of the Ombudsman for United Nations Funds and Programmes.
Prior to joining the Office, Gergely was an international dispute resolution lawyer focusing on litigation, arbitration, and mediation. More recently, he served as in-house legal counsel for multinational tech companies, negotiating high-value contracts across various jurisdictions worldwide, with a particular emphasis on Spanish-speaking countries. Additionally, since 2020, Gergely has conducted over 700 mediation-arbitration sessions concerning consumer protection disputes as a mediator and member of the Budapest Conciliation Board.
Gergely graduated from the ELTE University Faculty of Law in Hungary (J.D., 2015) and holds advanced mediation and negotiation certifications from multiple institutions (University of New Mexico, Pepperdine University, UC College of the Law, Harvard Law School – PON). He is a member of the International Ombuds Association.
