Ombudsman
Prior to her appointment as Ombudsman for the Funds and Programmes, Mame Diagne served as Regional Chief of Human Resources for UNICEF in the East Asia and Pacific region, based in Bangkok, Thailand, for nearly four years. She is a national of Senegal.
She has over 25 years of experience working in various UNICEF offices in the areas of Operations and Human Resources management in six of the seven regions where UNICEF operates, notably Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and New York headquarters.
Mame Diagne has served as Chief of Human Resources in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and as Emergency Human Resources Manager in the Division of Emergency Operations (EMOPS) in New York as part of the rapid response team globally serving emergency operations in UNICEF country offices. She has been the Operations Manager in complex emergencies, including those in Rwanda and Iraq, and has served in the Office of Palestinian Territories.
Mame Diagne possesses a strong knowledge of UN staff policies and regulations. She brings in-depth knowledge and understanding of human resources management, including expertise in managing challenges and conflicts at the country, regional and global levels.
Mame Diagne holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Manchester University, United Kingdom, and is a member of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA).
