Elena Koltsaki (Greece)

Elena Koltsaki is a practicing lawyer-mediator based in Greece and an Adjunct Professor at the ALBA Graduate Business School at the American College of Greece (Athens) where she teaches Negotiations, Conflict Management and Business Ethics. She is also the lead mediation trainer of the Mediators’ Training Institute in Greece (Bar of Athens). Elena has served as a regular member at the Mediators’ Accreditation Committee at the Greek Ministry of Justice and was appointed as a member of the Law Drafting Committee on Mediation, which reformed mediation law in 2018.

She is the co-founder and co-owner of Greek Mediation Institute, one of the leading Greek not for profit organizations for the promotion of mediation and works as a mediation expert and consultant on European and International projects (ADR Center – Member of Jams International (Italy) and as a conflict resolution expert (Technical Assistance on the Reform of Greek Judicial System -SRSS, EU & EBRD funded projects etc).

Elena holds an LLM and a PhD in Law, has over 20 years of experience in counselling, negotiations and litigation and has been an Expert Advisor to the Hellenic Parliament since 2004. She is an accredited Civil, Commercial, Family and Workplace Mediator (UK, USA, Greece) with extensive advanced training in mediation and negotiations (UK & USA – Harvard Negotiation Institute) and a trained panelist at the Hellenic Ombudsman for Banking-Investment Services.

Elena teaches law subjects and ADR in Greece and Cyprus, acts as a lecturer in national and international trainings and has trained over 1500 mediators worldwide. She has extensive experience in designing and delivering specialized training programs. She is elected Vice President International of International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR – Chicago, USA), a member of the General Sub-Committee of the International Mediation Institute (IMI) Appraisal Committee (Netherlands) and a pioneer in Peer Mediation Programs at Schools in Greece.  She participates regularly in International Competitions (ICC Paris-France, Oxford-UK, Chicago-USA) both as a professional judge and as a coach representing University teams with distinctions and has organized the First International Mediation Tournament in Greece for Students at the American College of Greece (INADR, May 2016) and the 18th INADR International Mediation Tournament for Law Students in 2019.

Elena works in Greek, English and French and has some understanding of German and Spanish.
