Jody Sin (Hong Kong)

Ms Jody Sin is an experienced mediator and solicitor based in Hong Kong.  She has been practicing general commercial civil litigation as a solicitor before she started running a mediation practice in 2011.  Jody has been an accredited/certified mediator of local and international organizations, including the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), HKMAAL, International Mediation Institute (IMI), and the Law Society of Hong Kong.  She is also a designated mediator under the investment agreement framework of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Mainland China.  She mediates a broad spectrum of disputes, including discrimination, employment and workplace disputes, insurance, professional indemnity, shareholder disputes, commercial and property.

Currently, Jody is a distinguished fellow of the International Academy of Mediators (IAM) and a CINERGY-certified conflict management coach.  In 2019, she has been awarded the Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship.  She has been recognized in Who’s Who Legal: Mediation as a prominent mediator in the Hong Kong market whose expertise spans a wide range of disputes.

Further, Jody has been working tirelessly to bring mediation into the public consciousness. She is an adjunct professor with the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) and a certified trainer of Mediation Training Institute (MTI), teaching different programmes on mediation and negotiation.  She is a member of the Steering Committee on Mediation of the Department of Justice, which advises on and assists in the promotion and development of mediation in Hong Kong, and the Vice-Chairperson of the Hong Kong Mediation Council (a division of the HKIAC). She is also a member of the Mediation Committee and Mediator Admissions Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong

Jody is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong.  She also underwent substantial training on mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution at Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University School of Law (2010, 2011, 2012, and 2018), Harvard Negotiation Institute (2011, 2013, and 2016), and Harvard Law School (2011).

She is a native Chinese speaker (Cantonese and Mandarin) and is fluent in English.
