Ivan Ormachea (Peru)

Ivan Ormachea is a mediator based in Peru, specialized in conflict prevention, conflict transformation, facilitation and mediation in social and environmental issues related to extractive industries, family, commercial, workplace, and labor disputes. He serves as a mediator for the Office of Mediation and Facilitation Services (MEF) of the World Bank, mediator and facilitator for the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman of the World Bank, and a mediator for the Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Ivan is a senior fellow of the Weinstein International Foundation (2017) and served as the Secretary of the National Office of Mediation (Conciliación) of the Ministry of Justice of Peru. He  was in charge of implementing the national mandatory mediation system in 2001.

Ivan is the President of the Peruvian NGO ProDiálogo (ProDiálogo, Prevención y Resolución de Conflictos) www.prodialogo.org  and for over 25 years has focused on teaching, training, research and consultancy on the analysis of social and environmental conflicts. Ivan is also a part time professor of the Catholic University of Peru in conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation and has a Master´s degree in Gender Studies from the Catholic University of Peru (2018) and a Masters of Arts in International Relations with a concentration in Conflict Resolution from Syracuse University, NY, USA (1995).

Ivan is an author of books and articles on mediation, conflict resolution, and gender, masculinities and conflict. He is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English.
