Un Ombudsman no aboga por ninguna de las partes en una controversia. La palabra om-buds-man es de origen sueco e hist\u00f3ricamente se refiere a un representante o agente de la justicia. En Naciones Unidas, el t\u00e9rmino designa a una tercera parte informal que ayuda a velar porque todos los miembros de la fuerza laboral reciban un trato equitativo y se haga justicia.<\/p>\n<p>El sistema del Ombudsman es un procedimiento informal de reclamaciones establecido dentro del PNUD, FNUAP, UNICEF, UNOPS y ONU-Mujeres, donde un Ombudsman analiza controversias de cualquier naturaleza derivadas del empleo en dichas organizaciones y sus Fondos y Programas relacionados. Las personas se pueden comunicar con el Ombudsman en cualquier momento para obtener ayuda sobre cualquier problema laboral donde podr\u00eda ser \u00fatil contar con una perspectiva externa a los canales formales.<\/p>\n<p>El objetivo de la intervenci\u00f3n del Ombudsman en un conflicto es la conciliaci\u00f3n y la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones mutuamente aceptables a trav\u00e9s de medios informales. El proceso es confidencial y se lleva a cabo en forma independiente y neutral. El Ombudsman act\u00faa pensando en los intereses comunes de la persona y de la organizaci\u00f3n empleadora sobre problemas que surjan en el empleo.
